HEALTH FOR ALL
This project saves lives as access to good medical care is just not available for many of the poor in Bihar. Working mainly but not exclusively with women, especially young mothers and babies this project has brought the maternal mortalilty rate down to almost nil and child survival rates have increased enormously in the project area.
GAYA RESCUE PROJECT
This ground breaking project through our childrens centre Rescue Junction provides 24 hour care and protection for homeless, abandoned and trafficked children. It has rescued hundreds of such children both boys and girls from babies to young adults. The centre is approved by childlne the government helpine for children in distress
THE OPPORTUNITIES PROGRAMME
This programme helps gifted and econmically disadvantaged students with a full time scholarship in a residential school of their choice or an assisted place on a vocational training course. Some students have gone on to get higher education and even gain a masters degree like Upendra pictured here.
VILLAGE EDUCATION
The Trust runs several schools in areas where good education is not available to the poor educating hundreds of children every day. Keeping girls in school especially in the higher classes is a prority and the standard of education is high with independent marking of examinations.
The wonderful work of one school was the subject of an NDTV documentary which you can see on the donate page of this site
VOCATIONAL TRAINING
The Trust runs a government approved vocational training course in basic computer skills. This enables students from very difficult economic backgrounds to gain the skills they need for the modern day workplace.
Over 95% of the students who complete the course find good jobs within six months after graduation. The certificates are recognised all over India.
INITIATIVES FOR WOMEN
The Trust runs a very succesfull micro credit scheme with village women with dozens of loans distributed for income raising endeavours which has really helped to break the cycle of abject poverty.
In addition the Trust runs several sewing centres for women which offer a much needed safe and supportve environment for women to meet and learn a skiil which can lead to an independent source of income.
